RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - The Richmond Police Department is searching for the person who shot and killed a man late Tuesday at the North Avenue Market.

Police say officers arrived to the scene around 11 p.m. to find a 33-year-old man with life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Funeral for Henrico soldier

Saije Daniel, a Henrico County soldier who drowned earlier this month in Hawaii, will be laid to rest on Tuesday.

The Highland Springs High School graduate and former football player is being remembered for his cheerful personality and his concern for others.

"I was beyond proud, you know,” his father, Anthony Daniel, said.

Paralyzed teen walks at graduation

A teen who was paralyzed after a car crash in 2017 got up from his wheelchair and walked across the stage to get his high school diploma this month.

Henrico County Public Schools posted to Facebook that Ryan Estrada did “something that might not have seemed possible just a year ago.”

Estrada suffered a broken neck and a severe spinal cord injury in the crash.

Thieves take teen’s car from driveway

A Henrico family is looking for their teenage daughter’s car after thieves stole it from their driveway.

The likely culprits may have been caught on camera. Home surveillance video shows two people rummaging through unlocked cars in a subdivision near Echo Lake Park, near Staples Mill Road.

Man suspected of hitting kid on bike denied bond

A boy is recovering after being struck by a motorcycle while he was riding his bike in Henrico over the weekend.

The suspect, Alexander Rashad Pettiford, 27, was charged with felony eluding, possession of a concealed weapon, two counts of reckless driving, speeding and six traffic infractions.

He was also given a reckless driving charge by Henrico police.

Pettiford was denied bond.
