Broad Street reopens near Route 288 after crash downed Verizon lines

GOOCHLAND, Va. (WWBT) - A crash that caused downed Verizon lines on Monday morning shut down all lanes of Broad Street near Route 288 for several hours.

“The boom of an excavator traveling on Route 250 caught a Verizon line, causing the line to fall across all eastbound and westbound lanes of traffic,” said the Goochland County Sheriff’s Office.

Just before 10 a.m., the sheriff’s office said the road “will be closed for the next several hours.”

All lanes of Broad Street reopened around 1 p.m., according to VDOT.

No injuries were reported.
