PRINCE GEORGE, Va. (WWBT) - A red-shouldered hawk chick was found by Prince George County Animal Control on Wednesday on the side of the road in the 2100 block of Rowanty Road.

An animal control officer was unable to locate the bird’s nest or an adult hawk in the area. The chick was turned over to the Altons’ Keep Wildbird Rescue in Suffolk.

Friday morning, Altons’ Keep said the bird had died.
