Family safe following porch fire

A family is safe after a porch fire was put out early Tuesday morning on Haden Avenue.

Fire officials say wood that was stored on the porch caught fire. There were no reported injuries, and the family was not displaced.

Parham Road safety

The Henrico Department of Public Works and VDOT are planning to analyze pedestrian and biker safety on Parham and Hungary Roads.

The resolution, which will be voted on today, will authorize the county to enter an agreement with VDOT to prepare a study for improvements.

City Council passes 2020 budget

The Richmond City Council has passed the city’s $746 million budget for 2020.

Mayor Levar Stoney praised the Council’s decision in a statement:

“I applaud city council for its vote tonight to fully fund our proposed investments in schools and neighborhoods, and for preserving our increased funding priorities for affordable housing, transit access and eviction diversion."

Tobacco school ban

Governor Northam will formally sign a bill that will ban tobacco and e-cigarette products in schools today.

The new law will take effect July 1.

Police searching for murder suspect

Richmond police are searching for 18-year-old Timon A. Ward, of North Chesterfield.

Ward is wanted for conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit robbery.
