NEW KENT, VA (WWBT) - New Kent Winery will create seven new jobs and invest $715,000 to expand operations, Gov. Ralph Northam announced Monday.
New Kent Winery sources exclusively from the commonwealth, and committed to purchase an additional 120 tons of Virginia-grown grapes over the next three years.
The investment will double the winery’s output to more than 10,000 cases a year.
The winery is also contracting with several sports facilities, such as Colonial Downs, Richmond Raceway, Richmond Kickers and the Richmond Flying Squirrels.
Northam approved a $15,000 Agriculture and Forestry Industries Development grant, the first such grant Northam has awarded in New Kent County. The county has pledged to match the grant with its own funds.
