RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Gov. Ralph Northam launched a new, statewide initiative Monday called “Virginia is for Learners” to overhaul Virginia’s education system.
The governor says the initiative will encourage deeper and more critical thinking in students.
Administrators say they want to move away from work sheets, and promote more project and essay-based components of learning standards.
There is also a revised school accreditation system, and the governor says there will be emphasis on closing the achievement gap in early childhood education.
