Severe weather threat moves out of Central Virginia

Storms through early evening; nice weekend

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The severe thunderstorm watch for Central Virginia has been canceled.

There were reports of trees down in parts of the area as storms rolled through around 3 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm watch was issued earlier in the afternoon, but was allowed to expire.

Earlier Friday, a 12:10 pm update put Eastern and part of Central Virginia in an “enhanced risk” zone.

And here’s the 5 p.m. forecast:

By 9 p.m. only a few leftover showers remain. It should be dry for most after sunset.
