HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - Talk about dedication after a military father stationed in Georgia drove to Virginia to surprise his daughter at her elementary school’s Daddy Daughter Dance.
Henrico County Public Schools posted to Facebook saying Army SSG. Christopher Hayes drove from where he is currently stationed in Augusta, Georgia, to surprise his daughter, Milan, at Maude Trevvett Elementary School’s Daddy Daughter Dance on April 18.
“He’s been deployed four times since Milan was born, and has been stationed away from the family for most of her young life,” Henrico Schools said on Facebook.
According to the post, Hayes drove up last minute because the night before Milan said she wished he would be at the dance.
The video shows everyone watching closely and clapping as Hayes walks into the dance to make Milan’s wish come true.
After the dance ended, Hayes had to immediately drive back to Georgia to report for duty the next morning. The school says no one in the family even knew Hayes was driving up to surprise her until just before the dance.
