RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney will proclaim April 30 as National Therapy Animal Day, in support of the city’s growing number of therapy animal teams.
“Whether visiting our local schools, hospitals, senior care facilities or workplaces, therapy animal teams bring comfort and healing to those in need,” said Mayor Stoney. “We’re proud to join Pet Partners in celebrating these exceptional animals and their human handlers, as they continue to serve our community.”
Pet Partners, the nation’s leading organization registering therapy animals, has recognized April 30 as National Therapy Animal Day for several years and is thrilled to have Richmond officially recognize the day.
The proclamation event will take place on Monday, April 29 from 1:15 to 1:45 p.m. at Linwood Holton Elementary School on Laburnum Avenue.
