CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) - Kyle Guy has ruled out a potential return to Virginia for his senior season.
"I am officially keeping my name in the draft," Guy posted Monday afternoon on Twitter, less than a week after the junior guard indicated he'd solicit feedback through the NBA Draft process before making a decision.
Guy declared for the NBA Draft last Tuesday, a little more than a week after being named Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four while helping Virginia win its first NCAA title in men's basketball. Guy scored 24 points in the Cavaliers' overtime win against Texas Tech in the championship game, just two days after hitting three free throws with a fraction of a second on the clock that proved the difference in Virginia's 63-62 win against Auburn in the Final Four.
Guy averaged 12.5 points and shot 42.5 percent from beyond the 3-point line in his three-year UVA career. As a junior, Guy averaged a team-high 15.4 points and shot 42.6 percent from behind the line, earning third-team All-American and first-team All-ACC honors.
