City leaders are holding a public hearing Monday night on Mayor Levar Stoney’s proposed budget.

The budget includes more funding for Richmond’s schools, an increase in the real estate tax and a new cigarette tax.

Man cut on Belle Isle

The Richmond Police Department is searching for the person who cut a man on Belle Isle late Sunday.

Police were called to 3rd and Grace streets at 11:10 p.m. for a reported stabbing.

“Once on scene they found an adult male who had been cut, not stabbed, by an unknown suspect possibly somewhere on Belle Island,” police said in a statement Monday morning.

Vehicle crashes into power pole

One person received minor injuries after crashing into a power pole Sunday night at the intersection of Buford Road and West Bon View Drive.

The incident caused several hundred power outages in the area overnight.

11 tornadoes confirmed

The National Weather Service has confirmed at least 11 tornadoes that touched down in Virginia during Friday’s severe weather.

The NWS will continue to conduct surveys on Monday and Tuesday.

Car seat trade-in event

Target is holding its annual “Car Seat Trade-in” event from April 22 to May 4.

Customers can exchange an old car seat in exchange for a 20% discount coupon that can be used towards the purchase of a new car seat, base, booster seat, travel system, stroller, or select baby home gear.

Kohl’s starts military discount

Members of the military and their families can enjoy a discount at their local Kohl’s department store.

Kohl’s is introducing Military Mondays, a 15% in-store discount, to thank active and former military personnel, veterans and their families for their selflessness and service to our nation.
