ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a Virginia man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for distributing cocaine.
Court documents say that 36-year-old Aidriss Saydi was a prominent drug dealer in Northern Virginia for the past decade and paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to have narcotics shipped to him. Court documents from late 2018 say Saydi pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute drugs and to brandishing a firearm in connection with drug trafficking.
Prosecutors allege that he made a co-conspirator hide nearly a kilogram of cocaine in 2018 and later beat him after authorities found the drugs because he believed the co-conspirator had stolen from him.
Authorities say that Saydi has forfeited $1 million and multiple vehicles.
An attorney for Saydi didn't immediately respond to an email seeking comment Saturday.
