Petersburg police: Nearly 300 guns taken off the streets in 2018
A total of 283 guns were removed from the Petersburg streets last year.

PETERSBURG, VA (WWBT) - Petersburg police say that nearly 300 guns were taken off the streets last year.

Police Chief Kenneth A. Miller says the removal of the guns was a concerted effort from police staff and the community.

“If we rid our community of illegal weapons it creates opportunity to communicate," Miller said of the 283 guns were removed.
