CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Last minute shoppers filled the few stores that remained open for Christmas gifts.
Shoppers took to stores like Kohl’s, that open early to get a head start on last minute shopping.
Most shoppers expected long lines and chaos inside of stores, but Amy Schlachter found the opposite.
“It really wasn’t a crowd, so it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, might have to do it next year,” said Schlachter.
Brenda Gates and her husband, Steve, have been married for 49 years. The couple did some last minute shopping to find extra gifts for their grandchildren.
“This year we had a little more time and usually we’re at home wrapping presents on Christmas Eve but this year we had Christmas Eve off,” said Gates.
Even though they’re typically done early, Gates still enjoyed her time shopping.
“Everyone was in good spirits and most of the time people are more polite,” said Gates.
Stores such as Walmart, Macy’s and Kohl’s close at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
Target will be the last store to stay open, closing at 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
Those stores will all be closed on Christmas Day.
