HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - Thousands of Army soldiers from Fort Lee have packed out Richmond International Airport heading home for the holidays.
The wave of soldiers heading home started Wednesday as over 1,500 soldiers flew out of Richmond.
It was much of the same on Thursday with over 2,000 soldiers boarding their flights.
For these Army men and women, this is the first time they’re able to go home since joining the Army.
After feeling like a different person since leaving boot camp, Private Torres is a little nervous going home.
“I’m pretty nervous because I want to know what people think about me now,” said Torres.
While some are flying out, others service members are flying home for the first time as well.
The Army soldiers from Fort Lee will have to report back for duty in two weeks.
