Tobacco Company restaurant finally reopens

Tobacco Company reopens after fire

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The wait is finally over: the Tobacco Company restaurant finally reopened 17 months after a devastating fire.

“It means a lot to me to get it back open," said owner Jerry Cable. “I think Tobacco Company is known all over Virginia.”

Now the restaurant has bounced back with full renovations from top to bottom, each floor has something to add to the restaurant.

“All of our bars are new. We have new decor lounge in the back and a whole new decor look on the third floor of the restaurant. So we think it’s going to be pretty great for Richmond,” said Cable.

From new chairs, to a bar with LED lights, to unique chandeliers that were featured in the “Lincoln” movie, this bar has updated the whole nine yards.

“Everybody pitched in here to help rebuild this restaurant. It’s been a whole staff and management project. They all help me do it. I couldn’t have done it without the staff and management here," said Cable.

And now that it’s back, Tobacco Company is looking to pick up where it left off.

“Were hopefully starting another 40 years. We lacked three days of being 40 years when we had the fire on July 8,” said Cable.

Although reopening after the kitchen fire wasn’t easy, the owner says he couldn’t be prouder of how things turned out.

“Now that it’s open, I’m really proud of it. It’s the best thing that I’ve done. I done a restoration of a lot of old buildings in Richmond and this is the nicest thing I have ever done," said Cable.
