RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A resident jumped into action Tuesday while out looking at Christmas lights when a delivery van slid down a hill due to icy roads.
The driver had delivered a package to a home on Asbury Court, but couldn’t get up the hill.
The truck’s driver pushed the van from behind while the bystander got behind the wheel. Eventually, the vehicle made its way up the hill and on to the rest of its route.
“Once my husband got behind the wheel ten minutes maybe 10 minutes maybe if that,” said Susan Turner. “Many years of experience and he got it out for him.”
That’s just one example of the icy roads you’ll find in many neighborhoods as the temperatures drop. It may be a thick layer of ice or a clear sheen, but it’s all slippery.
It’s all part of the challenge as you head into this season. At least one driver was glad Susan Turner’s husband was on hand in a time of need.
“And I’m sure everyone else is too, they can enjoy the Christmas lights.” Turner said.
