HANOVER, VA (WWBT) - A Virginia State trooper sustained minor injuries after being rear-ended by a vehicle.
The trooper was stopped on the left hand shoulder of southbound I-95 at the 89.6 mile marker assisting a disabled vehicle at approximately 7:11 p.m.
A 2003 GMC Yukon traveling southbound struck the trooper’s vehicle in the rear, after losing control of the vehicle.
The trooper was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.
Virginia State Police continue to urge drivers to not travel unless necessary.
Roadways are expected to freeze overnight.
Drivers are urged to check VDOT’s 511 for the latest road conditions.
