CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - A Chesterfield police officer is recovering after a drunk driver crashed into the patrol car.

Police said the alcohol-related crash happened around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday at Bradley Bridge and Lewis Road.

Chesterfield police said a Chevrolet truck driven by Steven Montgomery, 61, of Chesterfield, ran a stop sign and struck the police vehicle. Montgomery was arrested and charged with DWI.

The police officer was in the car at the time and received minor injuries. The officer has since been released from the hospital.
