Richmond City Council approves off-track betting site

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond City Council voted to support a proposal that could bring 700 betting machines to Midlothian Turnpike in Richmond
Colonial Downs wants to take over the old K-Mart building, which has been sitting empty since 2011.
In its place, Colonial Downs wants to set up an off-track horse race betting venue.
The facility could create 200 jobs and bring in $2 million in city and state tax revenue.
