State Police begin speed crackdown

From NBC12 News

Henrico County, VA (NBC12) - Virginia State Police are ramping up patrols on a busy interstate in our area, just ahead of st. Patrick's day.

Interstate 64 is the focus of Operation Land, Air and Speed enforcement, starting Thursday.

State police will be out in full force for the next two days as a part of these targeted patrols.

The purpose of these patrols is to reduce traffic fatalities.

The focus will be the entire stretch of interstate 64 and the Hampton Roads area.

The Highway Safety Campaign is a chance to remind drivers about how serious the state police take traffic safety, and an opportunity to remind drivers to buckle up, slow down, and move over for emergency vehichles on the side of the road.

These types of random patrols usually result in several arrests and thousands of summonses.

Enforcement will include troopers, supervisors, and motorcycle units.
