2-alarm fire near VCU displaces 9

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond City fire crews are on the scene of a two-alarm structure fire in the 700 block of Albemarle Street in the Oregon Hill neighborhood.

A fire crew arrived on the scene around 3:30 p.m. and immediately called a second alarm because of the heavy smoke. Just after 4 p.m., crews had to evacuate because of the danger.

A total of 44 firefighters were on the scene. They believe that nobody was inside the burning structure when the blaze started.

Nine people were displaced by the fire and are receiving assistance from the Red Cross.
