Parents discuss school district changes at Henrico meeting

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - The first of the tree meetings concerning changes to Henrico County's school district lines was held Monday night at Godwin High School.

Parents reviewed maps of the affected neighborhoods. Many of them wore colored t-shirts representing their respective neighborhoods.

Jeff Britt lives in the Old House Run neighborhood. Residents there have sent their kids to Godwin High School for 25 years. That would have changed under the old redistricting plan, but the committee has since re-evaluated that move.

"Right now, the pairings have us staying at Godwin High School, which we appreciate," Britt said. "We're making sure we're keeping our faces out there to let the committee know we appreciate them keeping us at Godwin, and we hope to stay there through the School Board vote."

Parents will get another chance Tuesday to weigh in on the plans. Tonight's meeting will be held at Elko Middle School starting at 6 p.m.

The third meeting will be Wednesday night at Deep Run High School, also at 6 p.m.
