HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - Police say burglars are going after homes belonging to single women in Henrico. The break-ins have happened at the Lakeland Townes Community, including Silverbush Drive, off Hungary Road.

Police say the community has had three break-in attempts over the past two weeks, usually in the evenings. The burglars start on the main roads and pick the houses on street corners, where they can get in and out quickly.

Lakeland Townes Property Manager Lisa Banas said the burglars are coming in through the fences and then kicking the back doors in.

In an attempt to stop the thefts, residents have been examining the weak spots on their property, such as fences that are often left unlocked. Neighbors say not a chance they're willing to take anymore.

Residents enlisted the help of Henrico police in their fight against the burglars. A town hall meeting is scheduled for Wed., March 18. Police will talk about more crime prevention tips including good lights and good locks.
