HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - Henrico police rounded up yet another young mother accused of being drunk around her child.

Police busted a motel party Thursday night at the Ramada on Eastridge Road. Police were told there was drinking going on in room 313. When they arrived police found four adults, a teenager, and an 18-month-old baby.

Police accused the child's mother, 22 year old Chastity Davis, of being drunk, and possessing marijuana at the time.

When police tried to arrest Morris she became belligerent. She fought with police officers and actually slipped out of her handcuffs.

"She started kicking the dash so we ended up having to get the paddy wagon to transport her,"  said Henrico police Lt. Doug Perry.

The arrest of Davis, marks the third of its kind in less than a week. Two other women face alcohol and neglect charges for separate but similar cases, involving their children.

Police say incidents like this in the county are almost an epidemic these days.

"I don't know what's going on, but it's unacceptable," said Perry.

Davis, faces neglect charges in addition to drug and alcohol counts. Her baby was turned over to the father.
