Robbery victim helps police catch criminal

From NBC12 News

HENRICO, VA (NBC12) - Henrico Police were able to track down and arrest a man accused of armed robbery thanks to a vehicle description and partial license plate number from his victim.

Friday night around 7:00, a man made a withdrawl from the ATM at the Wachovia bank on Brook Road.

He was finishing up his transaction when he was approached by a man demanding money.

The two men fought, but when the robber pulled out a gun, the victim gave up his wallet.

Police say the suspect ran to a nearby parking lot, got into an SUV and drove away, but not before the victim was able to get the vehicle's information.

He called police and an officer patrolling the area was able to quickly pull over the suspect's vehicle.

Once stopped, the suspect jumped from the SUV and ran, but the officer caught up with him and made an arrest.

42-year-old James Banks JR. of Fredericksburg has been charged with armed robbery and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
