Board to vote on Richmond school closure

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The Richmond School Board is expected to vote Tuesday on whether to close Chandler Middle School in the city's northside.

It's a move supporters say would help cut education costs in Richmond. Chandler Middle has failed to meet federal academic standards for 7 years running and closing the school, supporters say, could also save hundreds of thousands of dollars.

A public hearing is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on the 17th floor of Richmond City Hall.
