CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Chesterfield police are looking for an armed man who tried to abduct a teenager.

17 year old Amber Jerinjan was on her way to the school bus stop at around six Friday morning when a man she had never met, approached her with a gun.

He pointed the gun at her stomach and grabbed her arm and started to point her to a wooded area not far from the bus stop.

Amber was scared and wasn't sure what to do, but her quick instincts might have saved her from becoming the victim of something much worse.

"He told me to be quiet he started walking me to the woods and that is when I really heard is voice and that is when I told him that my mom was coming. He let go and then I walked up to my bus stop and called 911," said Aber Jernijan.

Amber and her mother just moved to the Richmond area six months ago after her father's job relocated them from Ohio.

Police describe the suspect as a hispanic male in his mid 20's. They say he was 5 foot 3 inches tall and at the time was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Crime Solvers at 748-0660.

This is not the first time crimes like this in the Roxbury Square Apartment Complex were reported. In November and December of last year, two different women were approached by men with guns. At this point police have not said if the crimes are connected.
