Tonight on 12 News at 11

Good evening everyone,

We're starting something new at NBC12.  Keep an eye on your e-mail around this time every night because we're giving you a sneak-peak at what we're working on for 12 News at 11.

Tonight we have a warning for those of you who live in an apartment.  Police say thieves are robbing people by pretending they're with the apartment complex.  Tara Morgan is out right now, finding out how they're getting into the apartments and what you need to do to protect yourself.

Laura Geller is on the campus of Virginia State University.  She's looking into reports of a fraternity hazing that sent one student to the hospital.

Have you noticed the new movie theater near the Diamond in Richmond? It's opening soon but tonight, we have a behind-the-scenes tour of the Movieland Bow-Tie Cinemas. Richmond reporter Rachel DePompa will tell us what's so unique about this theater on the Boulevard.

We'll also bring you the latest on the brush fires that have kept area firefighters busy all day.

Plus, it's Thursday night and that means an all new Restaurant Report with Ashley Swann.

And Meteorologist Jim Duncan is tracking our chance for a rain/snow mix in the coming days. Get his updated 7-day forecast before you go to bed.

We'll look for you tonight after an all new "E.R."

This January thaw has been nice, and for the most part (a couple cooler snaps mixed in too) will be sticking around into the first day or two of February, but all the signs are pointing to an abrupt return to the deep freeze starting around February 5th or 6th. Once that big eastern trough in the jet stream redevelops, it could stay for quite awhile. Shades of early January? It's too soon to tell on that, but it does appear fairly certain that this warm/mild pattern will be on it...
