Local organizations see drop in volunteers

Posted by Terry Alexander

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The tough economic times are also being blamed for a shortage of volunteers at several local organizations.

The Central Virginia Food Bank and Meals on Wheels are just a couple of groups citing a drop in volunteers. Many of them were corporate employees who use to participate on volunteer teams but are now looking for work themselves.

The organizations have designated February volunteer recruitment month.

They're trying to get local residents to donate a few hours a week to help out.
