HENRIO, VA (WWBT) - Police say a routine traffic stop in eastern Henrico ended with a pursuit on Interstate 64 near Nine Mile and Airport roads.

State police say a trooper travelling on Interstate 64 tried to pull over the driver of a 1994 Honda Accord for a traffic violation. But the Steven Thomas Banks, 34, fled, wrecked his vehicle and then continued on foot.

Banks ultimately surrendered, but not before leading state and Henrico Police on an hour-long manhunt through one Henrico neighborhood.

Police say tips from citizens and the watchful eye of an off-duty Henrico officer finally led to Banks' arrest.

Banks was taken to Henrico County Jail and is now facing multiple charges including obstruction of justice, possession of marijuana, DUI and a felony charge of alluding police.
