CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Fifty year old VCU Police Chief William Fuller, was arrested Wednesday at his Henrico home for using a communications device to solicit sex from a minor and attempted indecent liberties with a minor.

Investigators allege on January 10, Fuller spoke with an undercover detective posed as a 14-year-old girl in an online chat room. They say during the conversation Fuller tried to not only to solicit sex but also attempted indecent liberties with the fictitious teen.

"Obviously people have served with Chief Fuller for a number of years, many of whom knew Chief Fuller before he came here as police chief, so they're stunned. They are as shocked as we are," said VCU Senior VP John Bennett.

During Fuller's hearing Thursday afternoon the prosecutor released that Fuller went by the name hot-cop2006. He also stated Fuller represented himself as younger. Telling the undercover detective he was 35 instead of 50.

Although the alleged offense happened online the prosecutor added that fuller never made an attempt to set up a meeting.

Chief Willie Fuller is in jail in Chesterfield Thursday night being held without bond. The university has put him on administrative leave without pay. In Fuller's place, VCU has appointed VCU Police Capt. Carlton Edwards as acting chief.

Police did confiscate computers from Chief Fuller's home Wednesday night. They're investigating to see if any other offensive happened as well. Fuller will be back in court on April second.
