Petersburg man walking to inauguration arrives in D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WWBT) - A local man who is walking from Petersburg to Washington, D.C.  in honor of president-elect Barack Obama and Martin Luther King Jr. has made it to his destination.

Carl Winfield, 60, started walking Sunday in Petersburg. Earlier in the week he said he's walking the 131 miles to fulfill a dream and a promise.

In 1968, Winfield was asked to help organize a march from Petersburg to D.C. on behalf of Martin Luther King Jr., but the march never happened because King was killed.

Winfield says he'll stay in D.C. to witness the Obama's inauguration.
