Local residents may see and hear unfamiliar aircraft flying overhead for the next two weeks.

That's because more than 2,000 Marines will be conducting an urban training exercise in Henrico and several other areas.

The training is in coordination with local officials and the FBI. Pilots and crews will practice landing in pre-planned landing zones.

The exercises involve soldiers from the 22nd Expeditionary Unit, a group of 2,200 soldiers that will begin to arrive at Fort Pickett on Thursday.

The group will undergo multiple urban exercises as part of a requirement to conduct operations in a "real" environment prior to an overseas deployment.
