Two Chesterfield Women Attacked at Gunpoint

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Chesterfield police are keeping a close eye on an apartment community after two women were attacked at gunpoint.

The crimes happened late at night a month apart at the Chesterfield Village apartment complex off Boulders Parkway.   Police say in the first case on November 14th, a woman reported she was raped after a man forced her into the woods behind Roxbury Square section of the complex.  The second case happened on December 17th on Ayshire Court in the Tanglewood section of the community.  Police say a gunman came up to a woman as she was getting out of her car and struck her on the head.  The attacker then ran off.

"We haven't been able to draw a definite conclusion that they are related but there are some similarities," says Major Dan Kelly.  Kelly says robberies and larcenies have occurred in the community but not a crime like this.

The attacker in the November case is described as a Hispanic man about forty years of age with a thin build.  He wore jeans and a dark brown jacket.  The attacker in the December attack is also described as a Hispanic man with a thin build but between the ages of 25 and 30 with a mustache.  He wore jeans and a hooded navy windbreaker with a silver stripe.

Anyone with information is asked to call Chesterfield police or Crime Solvers at 748-0660.

Our temperatures have been trending colder than average for about 65-percent of the days of this month so far, and it looks like that overall trend could hang tough not only through most of next week, but after a very brief break, could quickly return and take us into the half of May.  Blame the semi-persistent trough, or dip southward, in the jet stream over the Midwest and East, something we've seen frequently since early March!
