Police arrest man charged with Chesterfield drive-by shootings

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Chesterfield County Police have taken into custody a man they believe is responsible for two separate drive-by shootings in the eastern part of the county.

Johnnie Black Jr., 24, is facing a long list of charges, including two counts of shooting into an unoccupied dwelling.

The sun wasn't even up yet on Berrybrook Drive - but most of the neighborhood was after hearing shots ring out in the 4100 block. Several people were inside, but no one was injured.

About a half-hour later, the quiet Sunday morning was shattered by more gunfire on Woodfield Road.

Steve Bulky, a resident, heard the shots loud and clear.

"I was actually sleeping and I woke up at about 7 to some noises I thought were firecrackers," Bulky said. "I looked outside and I seen a maroon vehicle out there and they were still shooting a few shots. I'd say 10 to 12 shots."

Bulky has lived on Woodfield Road for several months and believes this was an isolated incident.

Chesterfield forensic teams spent Sunday combing the scene. By mid-afternoon, two people were in custody.

Anyone with information about the shootings are asked to call Crime Solvers at 748-0660.
