Police seek suspects in Henrico shooting

From NBC12 News

HENRICO, VA (NBC12) - The shooting happened at around 4:30 in the 800 block of Pleasant Street near Newbridge Road.

Residents emerged from their living rooms to find a man lying shot in the street and an SUV speeding away.

Police are still trying to piece together just what led to that deadly gunfire.

They did confirm that a man was shot in the back.

He was alive when he was rushed by ambulance to VCU Medical Center but later died from his injuries.

His identity has not yet been released.

Witnesses say he was standing near a car at the time of the shooting.

Officers did pull over an SUV seen leaving the scene and took two people into custody.

However, they are not considered suspects at this time.

So far, police have had no shortage of people willing to talk about the case.

"We were inside watching TV when we heard a bunch of gunshots like someone was unloading a gun," said area resident Linda Calhoun. "My son and I came out here to see what was going on and I seen the guy laying on the ground. I figure it had to be a drive-by or something."

Police tell us the investigation is considering the shooting a "drive-by" situation, but they have not confirmed that.

If you have any information on this case, call Crime Stoppers, at 780-1000.
