From NBC12 News

RICHMOND, VA (NBC12) - Richmond is in the holiday spirit this weekend.

Earlier today tens of thousands of you came out for the annual Ukrop's Christmas Parade.

The 25th annual parade started at the Science Museum and marched east down Broad Street to the colliseum.

NASA astronaut and University of Richmond football star Leland Melvin served as this year's grand marshall.

Families from throughout the area cheered on the procession.

"We live down the street," said first-time viewer Kelly Dunn. "We wanted to come out to the parade we ve never been to a christmas parade before. The kids are really looking forward to seeing the floats and the balloons and he really wants to see the storm troopers so hopefully they have them again this year."

Many of the other children here were just as excited for a visit from old Saint Nick.
