Oil tanker hits SUV; 3 injured

RICHMOND, VA (NBC12) - Richmond Police are investigating a fuel truck that collided head-on into an SUV Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Overbrook Road and Norththumberland Avenue.

The accident occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. According to police, the driver of the fuel truck was eastbound on Overbrook Road when it collided with a vehicle that ran a stop sign at Northumberland Avenue as it traveled southbound.

Both drivers and a passenger in the fuel truck were taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

Phyllis L. Booth, 81 of Richmond has been issued a summons for disregarding a stop sign.

The following streets will be closed while fuel is removed from the overturned fuel truck. Overbrook Road from Brook Road to Lombardy Street. Northumberland Avenue at Lombardy Street to Overbrook Road.
