RICHMOND, VA (NBC12) - Eating your vegetables may lower your risk for cancer.
Cancer experts compared lung cancer patients to people without the disease.
They analyzed each participants vegetable intake, as well as their smoking status.
They found those who ate vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower -- had significantly lower risks for lung cancer.
For people who currently smoked the benefit was only seen if they ate raw vegetables.
Experts say more studies are needed.
