These are the latest closings & cancellations due to Tropical Storm Hanna:

VIRGINIA UNION UNIVERSITY
Saturday's football game between Virginia Union University and West Virginia Wesleyan College has been postponed until 6:00 PM.  Heavy rain and winds caused by Tropical Storm Hanna have forced the postponement of the contest.  For additional information, visit http://vuusports.vuu.edu

BRYANT AND STRATTON COLLEGE
Closed Saturday

VIRGINIA STATE UNIVERSITY
All Saturday classes at Virginia State University canceled.

FORT LEE KIDS' HEALTH FEST CANCELED
The event will be re-scheduled at a later date.  Please visit http://www.leemwr.com for further details.

SOUTH OF THE JAMES MARKET CANCELED

Due to the possibility of severe weather conditions, the South of the James Market at Forest Hill Park is canceled for Saturday, September 6.  Conditions permitting, the Market will resume next Saturday, September 13.

HENRICO JAILS
The Henrico County Sheriff's Office has canceled all visits to jails West and East September 6th

All Activities Cancelled Saturday 

CHESTERFIELD SCHOOLS
All Chesterfield County Public Schools activities canceled for Saturday and Sunday

SOUTHSIDE VIRGINIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Southside Virginia Community College - No classes for Alberta, South Hill and Emporia sites

KINGS DOMINION
Kings Dominion is closed Saturday.

BUSCH GARDENS
Busch Gardens will be closed Saturday, Sept. 6 due to expected severe weather. The park will resume its regular operating schedule, including Bud & BBQ, on Sunday, Sept. 7. Guests are encouraged to visit www.buschgardens.com/va for the latest information about park schedules and activities.

WATER COUNTRY USA
Water Country USA will be closed Saturday, Sept. 6 due to expected severe weather, and will resume its regular operating schedule Sunday, Sept. 7. Guests are encouraged to visit www.watercountryusa.com for the latest information about park schedules and activities.


JAMESTOWN SETTLEMENT MUSEUM
Jamestown Settlement Museum is closed Saturday.

AMTRAK
Amtrak has cancelled some service along the East Coast for September 6, 2008. The following trains are cancelled with no alternate transportation provided:

  • Piedmont, trains 73 and 74 between Raleigh and Charlotte;
  • Carolinian, trains 79 and 80 between New York and Charlotte;
  • Palmetto, trains 89 and 90 between New York and Savannah;
  • Auto Train, trains 52 and 53 between Lorton, Va. and Sanford, Fla.

• Silver Meteor, trains 97 and 98 between New York and Miami.

The following trains will provide partial service:

  • Silver Star, trains 91 and 92 will operate between Miami and Winter Park, Fla. only;
  • Northeast Regional, trains 66 and 194 will operate Washington to Boston; however, they are cancelled between Newport News and Washington;
  • Northeast Regional, trains 67 and 99 will operate Boston to Washington; however, they are cancelled between Washington and Newport News 
  • Northeast Regional, train 195 will operate Boston to Washington; however, it is cancelled between Washington and Richmond.
