Cannaday resigns to become UVA dean

The man at the helm of Virginia's Public Education System is resigning.

Governor Tim Kaine announced Friday that Dr. Billy Cannaday will leave his post as state superintendent on September 30th.

Dr. Cannaday will become dean of UVA's School of Continuing Studies on October 1st.

Kaine appointed Cannaday in april 2006 after six years as superintendent for Chesterfield County Schools.
