Family receives home makeover for volunteer work

It was a happy homecoming for a Richmond family.

Tanisha Hamlin and her kids got their first look at their newly renovated home Saturday evening.

Members of the Three Chopt Church of Christ have spent the past few weeks painting, repairing and furnishing the house on Jefferson Davis highway.

Every room held a new surprise but this mother says its the kindness of others she noticed most.

"I know they care, everybody's here, everybody," she said. "Everything looks like something out of a magazine."

The church wanted to help the family after hearing about the many hours of volunteer work the mother does at a local school.
