Political volunteers hitting streets for unregistered voters

From NBC12 News

Volunteers are taking to the streets to get more people ready for the November presidential election.

One Democratic candidate's volunteers went door to door in Creighton Court last night, encouraging people to register to vote, regardless of who they may support.

The number of newly registered voters increases daily in Virginia.

The State Board of Elections say that as of May 16, the total number of newly registered voters since January was more than 131,000 - many of them women and young adults.

A spokesman for the Republican Party of Virginia said there is a statewide effort to expand its grassroots effort. The party is challenging local republican committees to double their size by Labor Day.
