Study shows more Americans taking medications

From NBC12 News

According to a new study by Medco Health Solutions, more than 50 percent of insured Americans are taking prescription medications.

The most widely used medications are those to lower blood pressure and cholesterol.

Experts say the data reflects not just declining public health, but also better medicines for chronic conditions and more aggressive treatment by doctors.

They also say the medication use increase shows the effects of the pharmaceutical industry's relentless advertising.
