(WWBT) - BNSF Railway and Union Pacific Corp. are offering signing bonuses to railroad workers of up to $25,000. This is due to railroad companies struggling to fill jobs.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Union Pacific is offering $10,000 to $20,000 "hiring incentives" to train workers in cities such as Denver, Kansas City, Mo., etc.
However, the company is wooing electricians with a $25,000 signing bonus to locations outside of Milwaukee and other cities.
BNSF's hiring bonuses for mechanical employees range from $10,000 to $15,000, the company tweeted.
Railroad companies based on the East Coast, such as CSX and Norfolk Southern, are not offering hiring bonuses.
