(WWBT) - Online grocery ordering is booming right now, but if you still like to do your own shopping, this advice should help you spend less time in line.

If you want to get in and out of the store faster and make the most of the deals, you need to shop at the right times.

One of the best is early to mid-morning, according to the experts. That's when you'll find the best selection, as produce, meat, dairy and more has just been freshly stocked.

Another good tip is to shop on the day the new ads come out. For many stores, that's Wednesday.

If you wait until the weekend, some of the best deals may be out of stock, though you could always ask for a rain check.

You're better off shopping early or late, since the busiest time at the store is midday on the weekend, and between 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. during the week.

So hit the store before 8 a.m. or after 8 p.m., and you should not find much of a line.

Never shop an hour before a big sporting event, unless you like long lines.

Remember to eat a snack before you go. Research has shown that hungry shoppers buy twice as many high-calorie foods like snacks, red meat and candy as shoppers who have eaten beforehand.
