CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

The 12News Today team did a recording of "The Little Engine That Could" for the Read Across America program.

"This is one of our favorite programs of the year, and we regret that we can’t go to more schools to participate in person," NBC12 anchor Sarah Bloom said in an email.

The morning team came up with the idea to do a recording. Once the recording was finished, they shared it with Chesterfield County Public Schools.

The recording was played in a classroom at Crestwood Elementary School.

Read Across America is usually held on the school day closest to March 2, which is Dr. Seuss' birthday.
