The topic today in Neighborhood Health Watch is the grand opening of a new state-of-the-art cancer center at Henrico Doctors' Hospital. It's located in Richmond's West End and is celebrated as redefining cancer care.
Patients can get cancer care ranging from screening, diagnosis, clinical treatments, and support services all under one roof and their experience is said to be transformative.
Through a doctor's lens, the Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Henrico Doctors' Hospital is a community gem for patients and their families going through a difficult time.
Dr. Laurie Cuttino with the Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute says:
"This is one of the most stressful things that anyone can experience so our goal is to make it a comprehensive and positive and seamless experience for them. And having everything in one place is really helpful. Having that one place be beautiful is even more helpful. We are so thrilled to be able to provide world class cancer care including first on the east coast, second in the entire country radiation technology which we can't wait to start using. This from an oncologist's perspective a dream come true. There's literally nothing I could want that I don't have to deliver the best care to patients."
The grand opening of the Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Henrico Doctors' Hospital is next Tuesday, Feb. 13 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Forest campus. It's open to the public.
