Vandals leave nativity scene in shambles

BEDFORD, VA (WWBT) - In Bedford County, vandals left a nativity scene in shambles.

Dispatchers received a call from the Shiloh United Methodist Church at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday. Someone flipped over manger figures and cut electrical cords. Several headstones were pushed over, and eight were broken.

According to NBC affiliate WSLS, the church's pastor says members stepped in and brought the nativity scene back to life.

"He said I went home and thought about it and said 'I'm not going to let them win.' He came up and brought his grandkids and they got the sucker going again and I just loved it. It was something I couldn't have done," Charles Johnson, pastor of Shiloh United Methodist Church, told WSLS.

This was not the first time the church has been vandalized.

Back in Dec. 2012, a dozen large figures were stolen from the church's nativity scene. Several boys were charged in that case.

No arrests have been made in connection with Wednesday's incident.
